Despite the remarkably scant quantity of actual voice-to-voice communication that Rita Celestial and I have been able to engage in recently, it appears that we were nonetheless linked by a common bond this past week:

Bureaucracy.

Oh for joy, you say. Indeed.

But wait! There's more. We were also linked by bureaucracy-induced confusion. Yea, we are verily confused.

She's confused because her subpoenaed-to-be-a-witness thingy has been postponed, which is annoying, but for reasons that are (I believe) good. Is that right?

I'm confused because I, having completed one round of testing for the Inspector job, am (hopefully) subject to a second, oral, round of testing in a couple of weeks. And this oral test is to cover information not covered in the written test, and I cannot, FOR THE LIFE OF ME think of anything else that a Inspector candidate might be tested on.

Seriously people, they asked me about methane, and cell phones, and calculating volume in cubic yards. What else is there?

Oh, but in case you're wondering, I think I did pretty well on the test, yes. About thirty people were there, give or take. Based purely on visual appearances (manner of dress and buffness of calculator) I estimate that I need to worry about 1/3 of them. But! I was the first done with my test--and I took my time and double checked my answers. So yeah, I think I did well.

Unfortunately, that is only the second of four hurdles that stand between me and a career in Sewage Enforcement for The Man!

So, for the next week and a half, I will be studying every subject remotely related to the field of Environmental Regulation Enforcement. That would be, like, my entire major.

Good thing I have a B.A. in that subject...
