Yeah, it's nice to have a day or two off in the middle of the week, but nothing says "weekend" like a Saturday and Sunday of leisure.
This weekend, for example, Shorn and I were both off, rather unrepentantly. Well, his part of the deal was expected, since he makes his own schedule and all, but I didn't know I would be sharing his joy until last Thursday. Every once in a while that boss guy springs a pleasant surprise on me, like that.
In any case, I have been enjoying the time off to it's full potential: I've done nothing.
Some of the things that I've not done include: going to bed at a decent hour, getting up at a decent hour, limiting my caffeine intake, limiting my alcohol intake, exercising, housework, and resume writing.
Instead, I have been: reading for hours and hours on end, writing until my hands and wrists start to ache, enjoying coffee, wine, and stinky cheese whilst reading Nick Bantock, drinking glass after glass of margaritas at local family-owned restaurant, and enjoying the heck out of the spectacle that is Alien vs. Predator.
And the best part is that I get a whole 'nother day to stay up, sleep in, and goof off!
I'm beginning to understand why people get so excited about this thing called a weekend.
