Okay, it's official, people!  I'm writing a novel!  Next Month!

I came across this page via one of the random blogs I read, and I've decided I'm going to do it. Quality be damned, I'm hacking out 175 pages in a month.  What better way to get the literary ball rolling than an absurd deadline?  I figure this will help me get over my Karina-induced hang-ups about crafting my sentences and verifying my facts.  Those skills have helped me survive term-paper hell, but dammit, they won't help write the Great American Novel!

Err, maybe I should rephrase that.  Those skills won't help me start the Great American Novel.  I'm just going to have to learn to put those skills on hold until December, when I will have 175 pages of crap to edit.

So?!?  Is anybody out there with me?  I work best with a little bit of competition.  Anybody?  We won't even have to read each other's novels, if we don't want to.

On another writing note, I leave you with this haiku, which I wrote (mentally) while driving to work today:

morning sun reflects
in dirty side-view mirror
my blind spot is blind
